Sparro Partners with Ericsson to Deliver Private Cellular Network for Enhanced Operational Connectivity at the WM Phoenix Open

HOUSTON, TX — SEPTEMBER 8, 2025 — Sparro, a leader in enterprise connectivity solutions, has announced they are deploying Ericsson Private 5G Compact to enhance secure, high-performance communications for critical operations in the enterprise.

The solution was successfully demonstrated at the 2025 WM Phoenix Open, where Sparro implemented a CBRS-based private LTE network across the tournament grounds. The network supported WM’s logistics, staff communications, and VIP services, delivering seamless connectivity in high-density areas where public cellular and Wi-Fi often fall short.

Ericsson Private 5G Compact is a fully integrated private cellular network solution that delivers more connection reliability, scalability, and security than Wi-Fi. Together this partnership will ensure a safe and reliable deployment, bringing optimal coverage.

“The private cellular network performed exceptionally, providing reliable data connectivity to over 70 WM managers and support staff precisely when and where they needed it most. This network enabled our team to stay connected throughout the entire tournament — an achievement that was previously impossible due to cellular congestion on the course. The enhanced connectivity, or ‘super Wi-Fi’ as I like to call it, was particularly beneficial for the WM Command Center, Hole 16, and Thunderdome working areas, significantly improving operational efficiency,” said Brian Looper, Manager Improvement & Analysis II at WM.

The end-to-end deployment from Ericsson includes  indoor and outdoor radios, a converged 4G/5G cellular core, and Ericsson Cradlepoint enterprise-grade routers with real-time network monitoring using its cloud management platform, NetCloud. Over 70 WM staff used the private cellular network for secure, high-speed data access, with daily usage exceeding 130 GB — without a single performance complaint.

“Private cellular networks are transforming how enterprises operate in complex environments,” said Cheryl Kasper, Senior Vice President of Global Strategic Service Providers at Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions. “Our collaboration with Sparro demonstrates how dedicated cellular networks can deliver the reliability, security, and scalability that modern operations demand.”

“Sparro is proud to lead the integration of private cellular into real-world enterprise environments,” said Jason Wickam, General Manager & Vice President at Sparro. “Our work with Ericsson at the Phoenix Open exemplifies our dedication to delivering top-tier connectivity solutions. By deploying advanced private cellular networking, we are ensuring robust communication and operational efficiency throughout the event. This collaboration highlights our unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence in connectivity.”

This partnership highlights the growing role of private cellular in enterprise environments, offering scalable, interference-resistant connectivity for events, logistics, and industrial operations.
